Sandpoint, Idaho

Cute downtown and beautiful setting on Lake / Reservoir.

Train, Trains, Trains!

This was a surprise to us. While Corky grew up accustom to train sounds, this was freight train sounds all night and day.

Campgrounds- we moved 3 times in the few days we were visiting. Thought we had a winner location next to the City beach and ability to walk downtown… but discovered the train tracks ran directly behind the sites. We pulled out and moved to Round Lake State Park. This was a beautiful location with hookups and showers, but it is obvious they don’t want out of state campers, very high prices for non-Idahoans. Charging at least double for park access and a camp spot. We could only justify a single night.

Great hike around the lake and thought about kayaking… but we needed to move on to locate another camp spot.

We lucked into the Bonner County Fairgrounds with hook-ups. Still heard the trains, but not as frequent and a fair price and accessibility. We were able to get in nine holes at the Sandpoint Elks Golf Course. Nice to swing the clubs!

We drove up to check out Schweitzer Mountain now owned by Aspen Ski, and later drove around Pend O’Reille Lake to Hope, Idaho, beautiful!

Woke up early to get to Bluebird bakery which is a very tasty and worthy.

Unfortunately, somewhere along the way we picked up debris and a large object in the tire. Since this is a new vehicle, Corky was unfamiliar to location and process of everything to change the tire. With quick study and few choice words he got things changed inside 40 minutes. On to Les Schwab for a new set of tires… expensive day, but we now know our equipment.

This put crimp in our travel day and was finally on the road to Whitefish, MT
